The Sketchy Figures Tarot by street / pop artist JON x NY (William “Bill” Eric Indursky (b.1969) [pronounced Jonny-X]) is a tarot + oracle deck of 130 cards. It is a bold, graphic Rider-Waite based-tarot deck in black, white and red, featuring hand-drawn androgynously human figures. The characters follow traditional Rider-Waite symbolism with several of the cards updated for a modern interpretation. The additional oracle and entertainment cards aid the reader in their divination practice expanding the tarot to have yes/no clarification cards, astrology cards which can set time-frames for various events or extend the readers information, aid in shadow work, layer in moon phase readings and includes traditional pip jokers for those inclined to use the deck as traditional playing cards. The sketchy fashion-like figures are a-sexual and can be read as both feminine or masculine allowing the reader to see what they divine.

In honor of the year 2020 in which it was designed, the artist included the four horsemen of the apocalypse based on the unprecedented time. War, Famine, Death and Conquer (White horse) are all drawn on a red background on their traditional horse.

The mystery cards introduce an idea for a possible future deck or expansion pack based on low rent super heroes. With the popularity of Marvel and DC Comics in the culture, the idea that our heroes are often more human than hero is a fun and entertaining theme after living through the pivotal 2020 year. The six cards play on the iconic hero archetypes making them more human and real and providing a much needed smile and levity.

SKETCHY FIGURES TAROT : AN OVERVIEW
Sketchy Figures Tarot is a modern minimal graphic interpretation of a standard 78 card tarot deck utilizing an edited roster of RWS symbols by street / pop artist JON x NY (William “Bill” Eric Indursky (b.1969) [pronounced Jonny-X]) .  It expands the deck with the use of our own oracle cards to aid the reader in interpreting time frames and to connect to natural life and cosmic cycles like the moon phases (8 cards) and the astrological zodiac (12 cards).  The connection helps bridge the gaps between other tools of understanding like astrology, numerology, palmistry and intuition.
WORLDWIDE PANDEMIC CRISIS
Sketchy Figures Tarot was created during a global pandemic.  In recognition of that sizematic event, the cards have the addition of four horsemen of the apocalypse cards (4 red cards).  The cards can be used for readings related to the seasons or quarters of a year.  For most during the pandemic the disruption to our normal lives has been nothing short of apocalyptic.  The cards can also be used within the normal tarot deck to expand the major arcana.
CULTURE SHIFT
The pandemic has forced the entire globe to stand still and re-evaluate.  The shift has pushed many to question their lives, how we treat others and address inequities in our society.  It is precisely this stop and re-evaluate tendency which has allowed me time to develop all the original artwork for this deck.  It is also precisely why this moment is best for the release of a card system that is complete and helpful in answering questions.  With Sketchy Figures Tarot I believe that a reader will less likely need further oracle cards to best answer all forms of questions.
NEED FOR CLEAR COMPLETE ANSWERS
Clear answers are sometimes difficult to come by using a system like tarot.  Tarot by its nature is like telling a story.  It is usually not a simple yes or no answer.  To help the reader answer these questions, something that the tarot is less prepared to do, we have added 10 Yes / No cards.  These are simply cards with yes or no.  They can be used in conjunction with a typical reading to answer questions that come up or be pulled for clarification.  With 10 cards, it allows the questioner to touch and shuffle the Yes / No cards to improve results.
